This “phenom” appeared to have the fundamentals when it came to the game. He got skills and worked (practiced) hard from what I saw. Unfortunately, in having everything, it also included an abundance of pride. He’s already at a disadvantage with his height or the lack thereof. If had concentrated on basketball and disregarded everything else including what others thought of him and his game, he may have made it to some junior college and maybe, just maybe, make it to the lottery even though no team would pick him. I’d point to his lack of character and mismanagement as a big part of where he’s at now versus where he and his parents thought where he was going to be. On a side note, I feel really bad for his then teammates.
